The following text is an excerpt from the MT Healthy, Ohio (WKRC) – Mt. Healthy Schools announced that it will lay off 80 members of staff for the next school year.
Teachers in the district were cut by 67 people, nine administrators, and four exempt staff positions for the upcoming academic year.
“While difficult, this measure is necessary to ensure the sustainability of district educational programs and services.” The district said in a news release.
As a result of staff cutbacks, employees will be paid while they are still under contract.
The decrease in force was announced at this time, so the affected employees could look for new employment. The district says it is assisting them in finding new jobs.
“We understand the impact that this decision will have on our staff and their families.” Dr. Valerie Hawkins is Superintendent of Public Schools.
